These beautiful handcrafted Christmas Ornaments are handmade in South Africa, by the Zulu, Ndebele and Swazi women using traditional weaving and beading techniques.
These stunning ornaments are a necessity on any tree.
The "Christmas Project" began as a means of developing existing talents and to provide employment for a group of Zulu women in the remote Mfekayi area of Northern Zululand. The women meet once a fortnight to sell their work and re-stock their beads. The demand for the little beaded tree ornaments has created a "success" story for this group of rural women, who previously has no means of regular income, or opportunity to sell their wares.
These unique Christmas ornaments are made in South Africa by the Ndebele ladies; these ornaments are made from polystyrene balls that are beaded with a combination of red, green, blue, white and gold African beads. These beautiful ornaments will complete any tree.
These beautiful and unique Christmas ornaments are hand made in the Kingdom of Swaziland. The grass on the rolling hills is cut and brought down to be dyed, then the dyed grass is taken back up the mountainside to be woven and plaited into these original ornaments. The angels are made out of a variety of brightly colored straw.
